“We needed a something that could transform from busy family mornings into a relaxed space that worked for entertaining & hosting. A designated coffee area was also on the list.”

Black Modern Kitchen

This kitchen was designed by interior designer Helen of House of Wards, for their family home. After receiving her design for a black modern kitchen we made some technical tweaks and suggested materials that would fit her brief for a visually striking space.

The symmetry of the design allowed us to house an integrated fridge freezer and a secret pantry in matching fronts next to it.

The bright blue Vola tap and Helen’s personal picks such as the stool and pendant completed the space and added finishing touches of drama to the black modern kitchen design.

Modern kitchen with dark cabinets, a black countertop, and a narrow doorway leading to a small space with a wooden shoe rack, apron hooks, and wall-mounted decorations.

Materials

Selecting birch plywood for the cabinets, we used black Valchromat (wood fibre) and Fenix NTM matt surfaces to produce the cabinet doors. For the worktops, we used Black Diamond Richlite and plywood which were also used in the surrounds in the kitchen niche.

The Outcome

The finished kitchen is a bold yet balanced space that feels both intentional and easy to live in. Strong lines and symmetry give the design a sense of order, while subtle contrasts and personal touches introduce character and warmth - confident, refined and thoughtfully styled.
